CIP RC/PT Girder Help

Model Tab

The Model tab allows you to modify CIP RC/PT Girder's analytical model. Using this tab, you can adjust the analytical model by specifying additional details about the superstructure including adjusting substructure locations, skews or stiffness. Additionally, you can add post-tensioning tendons, longitudinal rebar, and shear stirrups.

Modifying the Superstructure

To view and/or modify the analysis model, click the Superstructure button to open the Superstructure dialog box.

Modifying Tendons

To define the post-tensioning layout and tendon properties, click the Tendons button to open the Tendon Definitions dialog box.

Modifying Longitudinal Rebar

To define the longitudinal rebar layout, click the Long. Rebar button to open the Longitudinal Rebar Definitions dialog box.

Modifying Stirrups

To define the stirrups for the full bridge or selected girder, click the Stirrups button to open the Stirrup Definitions dialog box.

Modifying Points of Interest (POI)

To add, delete, or modify the structure's POI's, click the Points Of Interest button to open the Model Points of Interest dialog box.

Using the View Control

This view displays the cross section at the specified distance along the centerline of the bridge. Adjust the structure's current view location by:

  • Clicking and dragging the slider to define an approximate view location, or
  • Entering the exact location value and then clicking the Apply button to apply the location value to the view.

Technical Discussion

The cross-section view provides the user with a summary cross-sectional properties at the location specified. This information includes the location of the center-of-gravity, cross-section area, moment-of-inertia, torsional constant, and volume-to-surface ratio. These summary properties are transformed to include the effects of the longitudinal rebar and post-tensioning tendons located in the section. These results are for the user's information only and are not used for analysis.
